Architectural reminders of Kitchener Waterloo’s historic industrial presence are rare. This can often prevent us from stepping through our community’s lineage on our way to inventing the future.  Fortunately the Kaufman Rubber Company factory still stands as perhaps the most important artifact of when Kitchener was the industrial engine of the Dominion.  Its architect was Albert Kahn, the world famous designer of factories and buildings for Henry Ford and much of Detroit.  The Kaufman building is a rare Canadian example of his craft.
